Works well with Sony A7II + Fotodiox

A slightly unorthodox review but one I wish I had seen before buying. For someone looking to get a standard zoom with 24mm on the wide end for the A7xII bodies pickings were generally heavy, expensive and or of questionable QC. This lens appears to address all 3 issues- light, good IQ at all FLs, and fast + reliably focusing with the A7II/A7RII through the various EF adapters.

I haven't been able to thoroughly test 24mm corner to corner but for that kind of critical work I have primes. For general purpose shooting with subjects in the middle of the frame it seems pretty good. Overall, can't complain.

I probably wouldn't use these for APS-C work or any kind of shooting that demands a lot of sharpness and overall IQ... not to say it's bad, but just saying it's kind of a knockaround general purpose zoom that punches above its price. Very cheap way to complement a used A7II and have a general purpose kit.

Pros

  • Lighter than all other 24-xx EF zooms, close to the FE zooms even with the adapter
  • Fast focusing on A7II/A7RII with Fotodiox adapter
  • Quiet AF; almost current USM grade
  • Good IQ even wide open at all apertures (though slightly low in saturation/contrast)
  • Dirt cheap (~$120 everywhere)
  • Easy to find

Cons

  • None really for what they're charging for them
