$549 is an excellent bang for you buck with the latest 24MP DPAF in a small mirrorless competitor.

However comma, you can have a "refurb" (often new) SL1 which doesn't have eye proximity woes, tighter grip, can be "unlocked" with magic lantern, and is half the price.

Thoughts about the SL2 vs SL1 for the price? I've handled the SL1, curious what your take is on bang for buck vs SL1.

For me, the SL1 is a non-starter due to the much improved sensor of the SL2.  Also, I have been using an M3 for two years and have come to appreciate using live view for shooting photos.  The M3 does not have DPAF like the SL2 so the experience I will get from using live view with the SL2 will be even better.  Loosing the eye sensor is a PITA but not something that is a deal breaker for me.  Another feature the SL2 has that I really covet is the silent shutter option.  If it is as nearly effective as what the 6D has then it more than makes up for the lack of an eye sensor.
