Okay, so I took a break this afternoon to hike up through Portland’s Forest Park to meet a friend with his two sons at the Portland Zoo. The camera stayed in the bag through Forrest Park because I was booking to make it up to the zoo to meet my friend. Once at the zoo it was too hot for most animals, plus I tend to spend more time talking and looking that taking photos these days. Work photos or going out for a more serious remote hike is a bit different. Anyway, I did get a chance to put the camera through it’s paces, and snapped a few images that aren’t terrible.

While the three issues I listed are still bothersome, I did not find the lack of an eye proximity sensor and having to use the DISP button to be terribly frustrating. So to reinforce my concluding impressions from the review, the benefits of a SL2 with compact EF primes in the medium or short-telephoto range provides an overall improvement over the SL1 or M system. If the camera was a lot more than $550, then I would be more critical, but at that price I highly recommend it!
