Yes - it should.

I know it should, but it should also do it in manual mode.

Hi, This may depend on camera brand. I can only speak about Canon - with these, most bodies automatically enact HSS (if enabled in settings) when the relevant max sync speed is exceeded, irrespective of whether the flash is operating in ETTL or M. There may well be exceptions - and - I can't speak re other brands.

My point in the post four above was on a different matter.
