There is a book review in the current Nature which I thought some might find of interest:

Vint Cerf savours a life of Claude Shannon, information-theory pioneer and wildly inventive tinkerer.

Nature 547, 159 (13 July 2017)

The book by Jimmy Soni & Rob Goodman is entitled:

A Mind at Play: How Claude Shannon Invented the Information Age

I think both my Dad and myself would enjoy this book, I will check it out.

BTW: Godel, Escher, Bach:The Golden Braid by Douglas Hofstadter might be something that would interest you.

Cheers, James :-)
