It's an expensive game of diminishing returns. A 50mm f1.8, on your new Sony, has DoF like a 25mm f0.9 on Micro Four Thirds. Such a lens would be huge and expensive.

Yes, the GM 24-70 zoom at 2.8 gives almost at much thin DOF as the 25 1.2 prime and that amazing 55 1.8 any of my Olympus kit.   It's on my 'next' list and possibly the 18mm f2.8 depending on how good this 12-14 f4 is.

Micro Four Thirds is, IMHO, about amazing zooms, with superb edge to edge performance, and reach. Equivalent lenses, for the larger format, is also an expensive game with diminishing returns (but those GM zooms look awfully tasty).

The 24-70 GM is very tasty indeed!  But much larger and heaver than the 12-40 f2.8 on the Olympus, but the DOF is like my Oly primes.
