Best camera/lenses for Alaska trip?

My friend is going on a trip to Alaska and has asked me for advice for advice on equipment to buy. His budget is 5-6k and current equipment is a broken D5000 with kit lens. He doesn't really know what he's doing in terms of controlling a camera. He asked me as I've been a photographer for about 10 years.

He'll be taking this trip with his lady friend and their four kids (9-12), but his primary stated interest is landscapes.

I have three X-T2s and a dozen Fuji lenses (switched from Nikon last year), so I'm a little biased. My first thought was to recommend:
X-T2,10-24, 35mm f/2, 18-55 and 100-400.

Now that I'm thinking about it though, I've heard that Fuji isn't the best for landscapes - something about worms in foliage due to X-trans? I shoot mostly weddings and people, which it's brilliant for, so I don't know about this.

Would he be better off with a Sony A7R or D810?

In anywise, I'm thinking a good kit would be:

Mid-range zoom (i.e. 24-120)
mid-range 'normal' prime
Super telephoto zoom
