Wedding with X-Pro2 and X-T2
24

I'm not a full-time wedding photographer, but I have friends who do this for a living. Once in a while when I have a free weekend, I'll join one of my friends to shoot alongside them for the day. This past weekend, we shot a wedding in at a hotel in Manhatten Beach, California. Usually, the best part of my job as the second shooter is that I have complete freedom to shoot however I want. I'm grateful that I have friends who have complete confidence in me.

My job is to assist the photographer, the videographers, and the clients in any way possible. That includes putting down my camera to help carry heavy items or helping "clean up" the background in a scene for the main shooters. For this image, I noticed the flower girl playing with her brother, while the bride is soothing the crying baby belonging to a bridesmaid. Nothing fancy about the shot, other than I appreciated the AF speed of the 23 f/1.4.

Here's one example of the versatility of the 16-55 f/2.8. The father of the bride was looking out the window to view the courtyard just minutes before the ceremony started. I was continually scanning the entire room to identify candid moments usually unnoticed in the busyness of things. This was zoomed out at 55 shot at f/2.8 to isolate the father of the bride.

While the X-T2 was not my primary camera, the tilt screen was used for this shot. I grabbed a tall chair and stood on top of it with the 56 f/1.2 mounted on the camera and tilted down. Shot a quick burst of shots since I knew shooting wide open at f/1.2 was going to be challenging. Out of 5 shots, this was a keeper since the bride's eyelash was in focus. I added grain in LR during post processing.

With the 90 f/2 mounted on the X-T2 and performance boost enabled, I quickly captured this shot while the videographer was instructing the bride to post for the video recording. I specifically used the 90 f/2 to extract unwanted elements out of the frame while isolating the bride and her mirror.

The bride being kissed by her mother. I am not of the slight lens distortion from shooting wide for this image, but it was necessary since room space was limited. I chose the 14mm f/2.8 lens on the X-Pro2 (I think) and tried my best to line up the line in the corner and picture frames in the background to minimize distortion.
