EF-M 28mm f/3.5 Macro or EF-S 35mm F2.8 Macro
1

My main camera bodies are a Canon 60D and an EOS-M5. I am also considering the 6D Mk2 sometime next year.

Currently I only have one native M lens which is the 15-45mm. I was about to purchase a 22m F2 but then the shop assistant recommended trying out the 28mm macro and it was a lot of fun. I went home to sleep on it and then found out about the EF-S 35mm macro which is essentially a slightly better version of the 28mm.

I say 'slightly better' because it has metal parts instead of plastic and the F2.8 aperture. It is also about $100 more expensive here in Australia. The benefit is that I can use it on my 60D and M5 (with adapter).

One review pointed out that the 28mm has a 'Super Macro' mode which can get 1.2x magnification, which is pretty cool. I have a 100mm macro for my 60D already, but I love the LEDs on these new lenses.

Can anyone give me a good reason for buying one or the other? Right now I am torn between the two, but the F2.8 aperture is making me lean towards the EF-S.
