ReMerrillizing a 24-105 deMerrilized SD1 image with piccure+
2

I took this image from the lens samples pbase page. It is a 24mm f8 image taken with the SD1. I don't know whose image it is.

I wanted to see if piccure+ could rescue the mundane iq of the 24-105. It looks good to me. I did several images at different focal lengths and most were significantly improved. Some didn't show much improvement and a at least one was, to my eyes, worse; changing the parameters on piccure+ can often overcome the oversharpened appearance of too much piccure+ correction.  However the tool is less than intuitive at least at first try.  Sometimes a minimal setting will have a huge impact and other times a big setting change will result in minimal impact.

What I find to be most interesting is that it only works on parts of the image where it detects aberrations.  It scans the whole image pixel by pixel.
