Nope, not 1000mm EFL, this is 1000mm actual focal length, with all the compromises that come with it - mushy, poor IQ, aberrations, support instability, and atmospheric distortions all being very evident, and made even worse with editing. Its bad...but still fun.

Because it is near the winter solstice, it is a good time for me to capture video of sunsets at this time. One of the times when a lens' poor contrast is not a factor.

I've made a rough little video showing just what you can get very cheaply these days. A telescope might produce better results, but I don't have one

Using the gear described in the video, I can even capture people walking their dogs, at 12km away. With sunspots in the background. Sensor spots, too

Captured at 4K, zoomed 2x in editing and output as FHD. Some grading and sharpening.

Shots of the gear are from an S4 Mini, so pretty functional, decent cellphones are much more capable now.
