Yeah all we have to worry about with a AF-D lens is a gear stripping (rare) or fungus! After growing up with old mechanical cameras it's hard think of these expensive things as expendable products with a limited lifetime. But it would be nice if they could at least outlive their warranty. I have two original (12 years old) D50s with original batteries that still work like new. But more and more there are stories about N1 gear that dies for no reason at what, 5 years? Not good.
