Re: An important notice (for pixel peepers)!

I just purchased it for my aps-c Canon 60D, and it's been fantastic so far!  It's incredible how sharp this thing is in low light, even at smaller apertures.  Even on rainy, cloudy landscapes, this thing has been awesome.  I was looking for an ideal landscape lens, which is not easy to find for aps-c.  The ultra wide angle lenses are too wide (in my opinion) for landscape, and the standard high-quality zooms (24-70, 24-105, etc) are too narrow on a cropped sensor.  But 16-35 is just perfect.

The few portraits I've tried so far have been spot-on perfect, but I've not had a chance to really set up some quality shots.  I hope to do that soon.  I shoot a lot of nature, and to be honest, nearly all of the high-quality (especially L-series) lenses are designed from the ground up for full-frame bodies, so when they are paired with cropped sensors, the focal range is typically not ideal.  Canon does not make L-series lenses for cropped sensors, so aps-c enthusiasts have to pick through the offerings and decide what compromises to make.  For this lens, the ONLY compromise is a longer focal length.  But it's totally worth it for landscapes.
