Humor Alert: What are we trying to do here, make things we (and others) like to look at or produce true and accurate and "real" images of the real world?

Aren't there enough passport pictures in the world already?

Honestly, for me the real world issue gets kind of comical: If I want the real world all I have to do is look up from the computer screen. Obviously I'm not doing that.

Alternatively, we could ask if we really want realistic portraits with skin blemishes and all, or maybe just slightly (ahem) sanitized images of loved ones?

As to this image, I kind of liked the too magenta one, and then saw the one with the properly brownish and mud colored stones, and was completely confused. Is there some happy middle ground? Pun intended.

For me the image exists on its own.
