This is not true! On my Fuji X-A1 (which is the same as the X-M1 except for the Bayer sensor), if you hold the "Q" (Quick Menu) button down for about a second and a half, the LCD screen brightens considerably, making it easy to see in bright light. I have used this feature on many a sunny day outdoors, and it works well. I'm pretty sure the feature is available on the X-M1.

I didn't know that about the Q button - I'll have to try it on my XT2. I only use the tilt screen when necessary anyway but never found it usable on any of my Fujis in even hazy sunlight. In very bright light, even the evf with extended eye cup can be hard to use and then I switch to X-Pro1 and use the OVF instead. I know that many like the XA/XM series but I also know that most who move from the XM and XA series do so because of the lack of viewfinder and many have said they would have bought the X70 if it had a viewfinder. Satisfactory for some perhaps but definitely not a plus point and should be mentioned - it is after all an obvious difference.
