Timelapse motor on budget?

Hey everone!

I love timelapses, in particular I like to timelapse the sunset. For this I usually take consecutive .raw images of the sun and post product in Lightroom/LTR timelapse. Now, I would like to add more motion to the timelapse. Since I do not want to spend 200 Euro for a motion-controlled timelapse rotator (e.g. https://www.amazon.de/Syrp-SY-GMINI-Genie-Motion-Controller/dp/B017THGEFQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1497462365&sr=8-2&keywords=timelapse+syrp) I would like to to use a cheaper option.

There are cheap mechanical timelapse motor as the "flow mow", now I wonder if it is possible to shoot my normal timelapse and let the motor rotate. If the shutter-speed of my camera is low enough (say 1/100) there should not be any blur due to the rotation-speed of the motor, right? Does anyone had ever experienced this.

Second, did anyone ever hyperlapse the sunset and wants to tell me if it works fine?

Greetings from Germany
