Re: Sometimes you get the bear...

Occasionally the camera won't focus. Turning it off and back on fixes that problem, but I've missed a few shots due to this problem. Also, after shooting, when I notice that it will sometimes lock onto a scene, almost as if it's tracking and I haven't touched any buttons. And another problem is the screen goes completely white, as in overexposed. So...in for waranty repair.

This has become a routine for me. Two years ago I bought a new laptop for work and it has been in the shop already and will be going back. Then I got a personal laptop in the fall...graphics card issue - warranty repair. When the Olympus O-EM5 II came out, I bought one and within months it was back to Olympus for repair. And a few years before that a Pentax K5 developed issues, was sent in for warranty work, came back unfixed and a short while developed the same issue but it was out of warranty by then. And then there was the ASUS laptop I had 5-6 years ago...every six months or so the OS went completely bonkers. Tech support had me reinstall Windows. I did that three times. And when it happened again, out of warranty this time, they told me to send it in, that I needed the touch pad unit replaced. Why didn't they do that when it was still in warranty? Oh wait...why not stall me until I have to pay for it? That sounds like a good business practice.

Then there was the Lenovo laptop before that...after a year or so the screen began drooping and wouldn't stay up. I took it in and apparently some section attached to the main frame of the computer was broken. I never dropped that computer but perhaps it was dropped before I bought it (brand new from Office Depot.)

I'm not asking you to take out your violin and play me a sad tune...I'm just saying that I have a history of defective product. I'm sure when I get my GX8 back, it will be fine. I was a huge fan of the GX7....and the LX100....and before that, the GH2. However, that damn display selection button is driving me bonkers. I think I'll stick a corn pad on it so I don't hit it so easily. I don't want to pick the the camera by the lens (a heavy 14-140 zoomer) and the most logical way for me to pick it up off the seat is to cradle it from that side where the overly sensitive display button sits.

So now I have a defective camera! And a lot of frustration.

I'm a soft target, so it's easier for you to beat on me than the camera.
