Dear Friends,

I have a big confusion to choose a lens between Tamron SP AF 17-35mm 2.8 vs Konica Minolta AF 17-35mm 2.8-4. I have heard d something like KM is having more flare prone attitudes than tamron. If anyone used these lenses could you please tell me which one would be much better to add into my lens collections.

Heard about these two lenses.

KM +ves

Tamron +ves

Build Quality

Do these have huge color tone differences in outputs? I am using a Sony A7 body with LA-E4 adapter.

Detailed replies are welcomed,

Regards,

Dany

Two things here, first thing first if your are planing to use these lenses on a full frame camera the tamron wont work as is designed for an APSC sensor.

Now, in regards of the lens flare the Minolta is prone to lens flare however is easy to control, it is sharp but I wont be as sharp as other modern optics. I use it on my A99ii and it does the job, although I must admit that at some point I will upgrade it to the Tamron 15-30 2.8 that is mighty sharp wide open.

Both lenses are full frame lenses .

Both lenses are the same Tamron lens , the Minolta is a re-branded lens , along with a few other models .

The optics are the same . The main diference between the two are the coatings and either the focus ring or zoom ring turn the oposite directions .

I have the Minolta version and and use it on a Sony a900 and film cameras .It gives out a decent performance stopped down , but you do need to watch for flair , use a hat to shade the lens if needed .

With the sun in the shot , you can expect a problem .

I don't know if the Tamron is any better .

The lens I use for most of my wideangle shots is this one ;

http://www.dyxum.com/lenses/Sigma-15-30mm-F3.5-4.5-EX-Aspherical-DG-DF_lens123.html

It's a hard to find lens , but worth looking out for .

Sharper and wider than the lenses your looking at , also much bigger and heavier !

A down side is though that it doesn't have filter threads .

ND grads can be held by hand or hooked on with a bit of blue tack , but ND filters or coloured contrast control filters for B&W film are unusable due to light getting in from the sides of the petle hood .

Depends on your planned uses .

.

Both the Tamron and Sigma lenses are available in Canon mount if you want to use an adapter without the mirror ( and retain AF) and will be easier to find and re-sell if you didn't like it .
