Laptops with Linux support, long battery life, good screen?

Hi,

I'm in the market for a new notebook. My main requirements are

  • good 12-14" matte screen (no touch screen required)
  • long battery life: I want to be able to work through 8h flights for the next year or so
  • good Linux support: I will probably run a dual boot Win 10 / Ubuntu
  • 512 GB or even better 1 TB SSD
  • integrated SD card reader
  • powerful enough to run Lightroom smoothly (I don't need a very powerful machine)

I really like the Dell XPS 13 in the FHD versions, but the content-adaptive brightness control (which can't be turned off) seems like a no-go. Recent MacBook Pros are disqualified by the prices and the lack of an SD reader.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon also looks good, but maybe a bit pricey. The Asus Zenbook UX330CA seems to be good value, but it doesn't quite have the sex appeal of the other options.

Do you have recommendations or ideas for me?

Thanks a lot!
Johann
