G7 and Manual Flash Behavior
G7 and Manual Flash Behavior
Jun 1, 2017
Hello,
I'm considering getting the Panasonic G7 and have a question about the external flash behavior. Does the camera always trigger the hot shoe when a fully manual flash (center pin only) is attached even if the shutter speed is above the flash sync of 1/160?My Sony SLT does this and it is very convenient for outdoor fill. Yes, there is a black line if one shoots indoors but for speeds a little over the sync speed and outdoor portrait fill it works perfectly well. The SLT sync speed is 1/180 but I have used manual fill outdoors at 1/400 without any noticeable issues.
My Samsung camera cuts the signal to the hot shoe when the shutter exceeds the sync speed.
I hope the Panasonic behaves like the Sony.
Thank you!
