IR-modified A7S usable?

Hi all,

I use the camera in subject for my astrophotography almost exclusively because with the IR-filter removed, the sensor picks up a whole lot more red and on a regular A7S. And there're lots of nebulae and stuff that emit red wavelengths in deep space.

The last time I dove (dived) was with a Panasonic TZ7 and the OEM housing 5 years, and more recently, I've noticed that Meikon is producing really affordable housings for a super-wide range of cams.

My question is on the use of an IR-modified camera underwater, as opposed to using a red filter on a regular camera. I'm assuming that since a red filter suppresses B/G wavelengths, this would imply that whatever little remaining red there is would start to stand out. If this is the case, would it not seem likely that a sensor that is extra sensitive to red would be usable underwater, even without a filter? Of course with a strobe, everything would start looking pinkish or red, so it's possible that I would avoid an external light source.

The A7S with its low resolution and huge pixels have a very high quantum efficiency and I'm hoping that if this thinking of mine works, I could get back into UW-P.
