Can any users of the M10 please tell me what real world battery life of this camera is like? Canon says it's about 200 shots, which is lame.

The CIPFA figure given by Canon assumes a fair amount of chimping and 50% of the pictures taken with the built-in flash. In the six months I've had mine I've never had occasion to find out what the battery life is, I've always charged it before I took it out for the day.

Thanks. And has it been enough to last you a day with outdoor shooting with LCD brightness increased?

I've never bothered to increase the screen brightness. One thing I have noticed is that the flash intensity is very much lower if you are using it as a trigger for an ETTL-II flash, so presumably that helps battery life as well as improving the lighting. The other thing is that it takes the same battery as my original M so a spare battery or second body with another lens hasn't been a problem.

How are you using the M10 with an external flash without a hotshoe?

My apologies, I was thinking of the speedlite 90EX with my original M.  Inon do make a flash which provides automatic exposure by mimicking the built-in flash of any compact using a sensor to cover the flash.  The bad news is that it's about £500, but it does have a 100m water depth rating.
