Nikon Shooter Thinking to move to Fuji - Need Help
May 30, 2017
First, I apologize if this topic has been covered already. I've been using for he past 15 years several Nikon bodies, my current is the Nikon D750 and many high quality lenses (85 1.4, 24-70 2.8, Sigma ART 35 1.4, 105 Vr macro and 14-24 2.8...amazing lens), I have no complaints with my system, except for the weight......I am noticing that I can't hold a three hour shooting with my most trusted lens (24-70) like I used to (may be one of the benefits of getting older:)).......I am not a pro, mostly taking pictures at friend and family events and I do a lot of macro. I've done a lot of research and looks like the Fuji X-t2 has all that I probably need (tried at Best Buy and felt really nice and light in my hand)....so, here are my questions I need help from x-shooter (in particular if you have transitioned from DSLR):
1) Is the 18-55 lens as good as they claim to be?....just for casual photos, not to print larger than 30"x40".....is there a big and noticeable difference on IQ compared with he 16-55 2.8?. Looks like I could get this lens as a kit for $300 (at B&H), is it worth ?
2) Can I configure one of the front or rear dials to change the ISO settings?, or am I forced to use the dedicated dial on the top left to change the ISO?, on my D750, I use on Aperture Priority all the time and configured the back dial to change the ISO and the front for the aperture, I realize that on XF lenses you have to set up the aperture on the lens, so this apparently would not be an option for me on X-T2, however, can I at least set up one of the front or back dials to change the ISO (instead of the one on the top?)?.
3) how is the bokeh on the 56 1.2, 23 2.0 and 16-55 2.8?, these lenses would be equivalent to some of the ones I have today
4) When I tested the EVF at Best Buy it looked Ok but not as nice as the FF, I realize that this provides an immediate feedback from the sensor and helps you to visualize what you will be getting, but, I felt that is was a bit of "tunnel vision" compared with my D750, if this something that is a concern for other Fuji shooters?, has all "DSLR converts" felt the same or is it just me?
5) I saw several great reviews about the 16 1.4 and 23 2.0, are they really that good?, how would they fair compared to their DSLR equivalents ?
6) I don't intent to use much video, but, when I do, what would do you think is the best lens for video (not fast moving stuff, just regular street video)?
7 How good is the OIS?, I recently tried the Tamron 70-200 G2 (I am missing a tele lens in this range), their OIS (OS) is just incredible, I did not buy the lens because of the weight 1.5 Kg(this is the event that broke the camell's back literally). I was able to handheld at 1/25 and still get sharp pics, amazing lens and cost only $1,300 (compared to $2,800 Nikon equivalent). How good is the 55-200?
So, in closing, I am planning on buying the X-t2 if it ever becomes available ( I can't find any reputable place having this in stock !!), with the 18-55 and use for a while before I decide if it is worth making a full transition, as far as Macro, I use mostly tripod so weight is not an issue and I may keep the nikon and the macro lenses for that purpose, but, I am afraid of jumping to a whole new world and finding after loosing money on the conversion that the IQ is not there yet (compared with FF IQ for the lenses I have today)
Sorry for the long ranting post, any help will be appreciated.
