I honestly did not pop it on my D4. Let me clear that I was doing AF-S not continuous. I'm really not an AF-C shooter. Either way, the D500 was purchased for my wife for us to be able to shoot by using ALL the focus points, including the outer ones, but other D500 owners confirmed the lens has a problem, so then it was completely pointless to keep the D500. You know what I' saying?
SaltLakeGuy kept saying that, you need really really top notch lenses for the D500 and I'm only going to guess that's what he was talking about, now that I checked out the camera and this lens combo myself. I was just simply surprised that the D500 was not capable to LOCK focus in my office because I thought the D500 is supposed to see "in the dark", and not only the D500 but my D4 as well with all my lenses. That's all I'm saying.
This is where you can see all those "pros" and "cons" from any other manufacturer. Some systems do awesome in some areas, and some don't. I guess now i know fuji's AF is also excellent, for certain things. You understand what I'm saying. There is no perfect camera.
Sorry, I just assumed you were referring to AF-C.
I know for instance with my D750 the outermost AF points are not cross-type and that sometimes causes the camera not to focus well, where with my X-T1 I had no such issues with the outermost points, and it focussed quite well when the D750 didn't. With the innermost cluster of af points it was a different story.
As you said, there is no perfect camera!
Well, I sincerely hope you find a solution that works for your wife.
