X-Pro 2 and 16-55mm F2.8 bites

What I mean is that the combo is bitingly sharp, and always amazes me when I can keep the shutter speed high enough to eliminate camera shake. Even at 55mm and F2.8 the detail is amazing.

Consider this ordinary shot from the other day... straight OOC JPEG.

I don't care for the color or the background objects, but the young man grabbed his dad and pointed at the camera, so I shot the photo. As out of camera JPEGs go, it could have been improved with reduced color saturation and boosted highlights and shadows.

It was quite disposable, but the spontaneity of the two caused me to load the RAW file in Capture One. There, I changed the film simulation to Classic Chrome; boosted contrast, clarity, and structure; added default sharpening; cropped, and exported to a JPEG at 200% of the original size. This was the result:

Viewed at 100%, you can see individual hairs and blemishes to an extent I wouldn't have believed given that the original crop (before resizing) was only 1010 x 568 pixels from the center of the original image. I was going for a stark and rugged look, which I think I got.

Kudos to Fuji!! Yes, the light must be good to shoot at 1000th of a second at 200 ISO, but the sharpness of the 16-55 really shines in such situations... even at 55mm and F2.8. I really love the lens.
