I am trying to replace my old Canon G16 with a new and higher performance camera.

I kinda stopped over these two: Canon EOS M6 and Fujifilm XT20. The first one is a bit cheaper, considering similar lens power (18-150 mm and 18-135 mm respectively), but the second one seems to have better quality pictures. I am still trying to decide which one. If anyone can give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

6 of one, half-dozen of the other?

I've used Canon SLR and DSLR cameras for many, many years and, although there have been one or two models I've been disappointed with, I have nothing bad to say about Canon. They make great cameras for both the casual photographer and the professional.

When I first decided to try mirrorless, Canon was not making a mirrorless camera so I originally bought an Olympus with a couple of lenses and then a Sony with a couple of lenses.

Neither of those cameras was right for me and I sold both of them at a loss.   I almost gave up on the mirrorless idea until a friend of mine, who owns a photography store, talked me into trying a Fuji X-E1.

That was the early days for Fuji mirrorless cameras and the X-E1, prior to its firmware updates, was far from perfect but I have to admit I was impressed with the camera's image quality and low light ability and, to this day, I feel the same about Fuji as I feel about Canon.

I can't think of any valid negative comment to say about either brand.

Anyway, fast forward to today. If I was buying my first mirrorless camera, I would automatically buy the EOS M, without a doubt, simply because I already have Canon lenses and I'm familiar with all things Canon and that's the advice I'd give to anyone thinking about trying mirrorless.

On the other hand, if I didn't already own Canon cameras and lenses I'd try not to listen to all the hype on these forums and concentrate more on professional reviews to decide what's best for me.

After I did that I'd probably buy a couple different brands, hate them, sell them at a loss and feel like an idiot, but eventually, end up with something I like. (basically, the same thing I did. )

So to make a very long story short, I'm 100% sure both the EOS M6 and the Fuji X-T20 are excellent cameras both Canon and Fuji make great lenses and the only real way you're going to know which is best for you is to spend your money and take your chances.

Good luck.
