Some thoughts on the M3. Pics from Richmond, VA
5

Had bought a M3+kit lens last year on sale. Also used were the EF M55-200 and EVF-1. Walked along Carytown, Richmond followed by a trip to Bryant Park and finally a short stroll through the Hollywood cemetery. Blazing heat, brilliant sunshine with an errant 5 min rainstorm that left as suddenly as it arrived.

Used an EVF-1 for most of the Carytown shots.

Compared to the old M (which I still use from time to time), it is way more functional with a really good hand grip.  The M is pocketable, M3 is not.

M3 focuses faster but its not a hare by any means. An action camera it will never be, but then it was never designed to be one. It is good for stills when you are unhurried.

Started out with a full charge. Died after 230 shots. Occasional brief chimping involved.  No videos. Used LCD for the Park and Cemetery shots.

The EVF-1 is sort of slow and clunky with it's refresh. Objects appear a tad farther than they actually are, Will affect the composition. It is however, a necessary accessory since the LCD is essentially unusable in bright conditions.  The EVF does give the M3 a dslr like functionality however.

The fold out, tilting feature of the LCD is very helpful compositionally.

Focus is inconsistent at times. Some shots came out blurry when the aperture speed was above 1/1000. Don't know why but it could be my technique; street grab 'hip shots'.

Metering can be unreliable occasionally. Happened a few times when I took more than one shot of the same subject under same conditions and distance. Shots can appear under exposed by as much as -2/3 to one stop.

A bit disappointed on the whole with this initial run but I'm sure user error is much of the cause, Will keep testing.

Thinking I should hold off on the EF M11-22 for now.

Will hold on to my Ricoh GR2 for now. It is consistent , reliable. small and takes great pics.

Appreciating my SL1 even more.

Well, here are some pictures...
