I am trying to replace my old Canon G16 with a new and higher performance camera.

I kinda stopped over these two: Canon EOS M6 and Fujifilm XT20. The first one is a bit cheaper, considering similar lens power (18-150 mm and 18-135 mm respectively), but the second one seems to have better quality pictures. I am still trying to decide which one. If anyone can give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

if plan on shooting sports or birds definitely get the Canon because of the ability to easily use the longer telephoto lens

I don't see what you mean by this? Canon only has the 55-200?

the Canon M5 and 22mm f/22 seems to always look better than Fuji pics

From experience with the M5 22f2 combo, compared to the Fuji equiv (X-Pro1 23f2) the Canon vignettes so freaking much. Any photos taken have to have LR lens corrections applied.

He means the ability to add long glass using the EF adapter.

That's an additional cost, and he doesn't already own EF lenses. Plus Fuji pretty much has the long telephoto range covered too...

Pretty much? They have one lens that is 100-400mm. With an EF adapter (which can be had for cheap if you look) you can add a any EF telephoto lens including one of the 150-600mm lenses which would surely be nicer for birding and still come in under the price of the Fuji lens.

The OP only has a power shot... We're assuming he might take interest...

The 150-600's are 3rd party. Atleast from my experiences, 3rd party lenses have locked up and caused my M5 to crash. 4 of the 5 3rd party lenses I've tried have done that. And why would you mount such a huge lens to a tiny camera,

you dont...you mount the tiny camera on the lens ..not the other way round

and risk damaging the mount... Look at the problems with the rebels and people who use the 100-400 on it.. plus your adapting too..

Don't get me wrong, there's time I'd like a 100-400, but cropping is much simpler.

There is no argument for FF vs APS-c (or m43) with shallow DOF..as it's a law of physics and a very subjective personal thing if you want to make use of the shallow DOF only FF can offer

You are joking ....i have a sony nex ...i think the designers was an anti photographer sadist ...the only way to make it more less enjoyable to use would be to superglue a drawing pin to the shutter button...pin up
