Mount corner 'sliced off', why?
2

Olympus OMD cameras, when viewed from the front and without a lens mounted, clearly show that the lens mount surround structure has its bottom left corner looking as if sliced off, as shown by the following picture:

Look at the red dot (mounting guide) and trace your eye downwards to see the diagonally sliced off corner of the mount surround structure.

What's the function of this sliced off corner? Making access to some lens features easier? My one Olympus lens does not seem to need this corner slicing off to facilitate anything.

This is not really observable with a lens mounted, so would be an irrelevant feature for purely decorative purposes.
