My very first impressions of the M6
14

So just got the M6 delivered and played around with it, the DC2 EVF and 18-150mm lens.  I got the silver body, silver EVF and black lens.  So far here are my thoughts.

The silver evf and body are the same color (thankfully) and look quite good together despite being plastic.

There is about a 1 second delay in switching between EVF and screen.

I don't care for the strap lugs.

The menu is much more complicated.  It's going to take me just a bit to get it down.

I don't think I miss the additional custom button the M5 has since many of the buttons on the back can be reassigned.

Not much talk about the fact that Canon added the option for a corded remote.  I guess not many people wanted/care about that feature but I certainly welcome it.

The AEB issue seen in the M3 is fixed!  Plus AEB is saved when you power off and back on.   I can't remember if the M3 did that.

The M6/18-150mm combo definitely has some weight to it but it doesn't feel bulky (like I remember a 60D/18-135mm did).

The shutter sound is horrible.  It sounds like a Rebel shutter sound and it almost sounds like two different sounds in one-shot mode.

The 9fps is impressive but the shutter sound is rather annoying there too.

The loud beep doesn't bother me but I'm not in a quiet museum either.

So there are my random thoughts.  I'm am going to try and compare the 18-150 with my 18-55 and see how it compares in my eyes.  Also taking it on a hike on Friday.  Stay tuned.
