M6: Confusing startup with 15-45 lens

Took me a while to figure out what this meant; never seen this before (previously using the M3 + 18-55 and other lenses). At first I thought this may be referring to the rotary switch (ISO/MF/...), then I thought it may be one of the other switches on the camera body. Took me a while to figure it out.

Couldn't they have said "hold the switch on the lens..." !?

Why on earth did Canon change the wording of this message?  I don't recall the exact verbiage, but the M and M2 said something like "please extend the lens to the shooting position".
