Re: NX1 Depth Bracketing Feature

After doing some simple quick and dirty testing, it seems you need to focus about midway in the scene's depth and use a bracket setting of at least -/+2.3 to see meaningful changes in a closeup application of about 5-10 inches from the lens. Also, it stands to reason you need to start from a middle aperture setting that will allow for larger and smaller apertures, according to menu setting.

I'm not sure the feature would really be adequate [or useful overall] to capture desired depth focus in closeup scenes such as a small cluster flowers that had more then about 3-4 inches in scene depth and even then it's not going to be near the set of images required to capture focus levels that most want when using manual focus shift techniques.  But kudos to Samsung for adding the feature, anyway.

I think using touch focus and capturing individual images manually would probably still be your best bet if you can't use a focus rack.

Now, what is the preferred software to use that provides a pretty good balance between ease of use and effectiveness - with a reasonable cost?
