NX1 Depth Bracketing Feature

Has anyone found the Depth Bracketing feature on the NX1 to be at least somewhat effective in closeup macro scenes? In other scenes?

I've not messed with it because I'm not sure exactly how it should be implemented.

My question is ...

In a closeup macro type scenario and implementing the "Depth Bracketing" feature -

if I wanted to shoot on a tripod, and I wanted to angle above and close to a television remote control (for instance) and shoot the remote control and maintain as much focus from to back as possible

  • What typically would be the preferred beginning aperture choice? (in aperture priority as dictated by Samsung)
  • Where should initial focus begin from in the scene? Front? Middle? back?
  • Is "touch focus" the preferred way to initiate focus?
  • I assume this only works while the lens is in Manual Focus Mode?
  • does it work to any level of acceptance?

I don't expect it to perform as well as manually pp'g rail-shot images or stacked manually focused images, but does it at least work for rudimentary closeup images shot on the fly to maintain a deeper focus plane?

Thanks
