Which lense(s) for an America trip

Hi there,

I will visit the US in July / August and would like to get some idea if I should buy another lense or not. My equipment looks like this:
Camera: Nikon D7000 (Nikon Swiss already made AF correction)
Lense 1: Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-200mm 1:3,5-5,6 G ED VR II (used in special occasions)
Lense 2: Nikon AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G ("always mounted lense")

My travel route looks like this (Destination + my preferred picture objects)
New York City (city + night shots + zoo)
Chicago (city)
Denver (city + Rocky Mountains NP)
Las Vegas (city + night shots + Bryce Canyon NP)
Dallas (city + zoo)
New Orleans (city + swamp tour)
Philadelphia (city)

My own level is something between "Beginner" and "Intermediate" (using A Mode to take pictures). I am not sure if it would be better to leave the 18-200 at home and buy a 55-200 instead (Nikon AF-S DX 55-200mm, f/4.-5.6G ED VR II).
That would reduce the weight but is it really "necessary" or should I use my current lenses?

Thank you

Nikon D7000
