"Downgrade" to an SL1?

In looking for a compact for travel the thought of an SL1 came up with maybe a 10-18 and the two pancake lenses.

So rather than complement my 70D with a compact would the SL1 maybe be a great compromise (without really losing much if anything)?  I do many types of photography including paid events by word-of-mouth only so I have a day job and am not overly worried about having the latest and greatest gear.

I think I'd rather have just one do-it-all camera vs. more than one.

Thanks in advance for your insight.
