Sometimes it's the colors, sometimes the action
5

I drove up Mount Diablo last week to see what was in bloom.  I stopped whenever I saw something interesting and usually found surprises once I walked around. Here are two surprises from that outing.

This was my first wallflower picture of the day.  Wallflowers are rather monochrome so they aren't the easiest subjects.  This one had a nice contrasting background and a richly colored hoverfly for more variety.  I find the mix of colors to be quite appealing.

As I walked up to this large mule's ear flower, the large fly caught my eye.  When I looked at the magnified image in the EVF, I could see the spider and its prey.  The fly went about its business, unconcerned with the insecticide going on near by.  The action was unexpected and the difference in sizes of the insects striking.  Love the colors and detail on that fly too.

For this sort of photography, my Panasonic G7 and Olympus 60mm macro setup is  a perfect tool.  Nothing better I think.
