I have an A57 and although I've never used it for cricket I expect it will be fine for what you intend. The 16 MP sensor although dated is capable of fine images in good light, likewise the AF should work well picking up the players in their whites against the grass.

Certainly the shutter sound is a huge difference over your A100 and A200 DSLRs with only a faint snick as the shutter fires, I think the members will remain undisturbed.

Unfortunately the cricket season is over here otherwise I would have taken a stroll tomorrow to our local oval for some test shots. I might have a go with the football.
