X100S lens / images softness

Hi everyone,

I've been testing and observing something rather unacceptable and hard to believe with my perfectly fine X100S - it is much softer and lacking detail than a camera which should be worse - the LX5 (a fantastic camera on it's own). I am talking here controlled test shots, with the X100S at f5.6 and the LX5 at the sharpest F4 .. Irrespective of ISO, where the X100S wins hands down of course, i'll go for LX5 detail and micro detail any day over the X100S. This pains my heart, after certain results with the X100S, which are nothing short of amazing. This (image quality) besides the rest where the LX5 really puts the X100S to shame - starting with AF speed, blur vs no blur / IS in the LX5 and then - the metering, even HL handling in certain shots. Im also noticing corner softness even at f5.6 with the X100S ..

Anyone else seeing this / thinking that X100S is just OK when it comes to fine detail / sharp results ?? I can provide crops if i have to defend the above but really prefer to keep it simple, "Yes/No" type of thread

I am at the stage of where the blurred photos from X100S are enough a reason to make me sell it .. And a recent and growing obsession with the X70 may just go cold thinking of the issues, but then, it is 28mm which should help a tiny bit with blur / shake i guess..

Thanking you for your advise here,

Regards, Ilko
