I like the Hi-Res mode a lot. It gives you the same dynamic range advantage of a bracketed shot it seems plus some extra resolution. Yes it doesn't work in all situations but to me it is like an HDR mode on steroids. The files can handle a lot of manipulating and are virtually noise free.

Two shots from the same spot. One HR and one normal. Both pushed the same way in LR. +100 shadow, -100 highlight, -1 exp and some added clarity, saturation and vibrance.

Hi-Res

Not a big difference perhaps but it is nice to have a flexible file if you need it.
