When you travel, do you seek "beauty" - or shoot what's there anyway?

I have just come from Phnom Penh and traveled in a rather faster than the speed of sound Ford Transit bus, mainly past rubbish all the way from the capital to Siem Reap. There are plastic bags, plastic bottles and other rubbish littering the roadside.

Made me wonder what people seek, when traveling ? To have an image of "what was there" or "seek out" the beauty amongst all that "stuff"?

I would have to admit that I solely seek ... beauty possibly a bit strong a word, but "interesting" stuff. Not the gazillions of plastic bags for sure, that litter this world.

A couple of examples?

Roadside snack in Kampong Thom

83-year old fisherman, defying the odds of chain smoking, Hoi An

Bride to be one day ... soon? Hoi An

Or is it still for most to show what's there?? No PP and no alterations applied, no digger removed from a riverbed?

Why not post this in the open forum? Because I used Fuji cameras.
