$2500 for a 100-400mm zoom?

Sony is going to offer a 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6 zoom for "only" $2500.

To match the the Panasonic 100-400mm on FF one would need to crop it 2x making it an F/9-F11 zoom.  The Panasonic is considered an F/9-F/12 equivalent zoom.

So there is not any real advantage for anyone wanting 200-800mm EFL, but the Sony comes with the loss of 3/4th MP loss, as well as the larger price and size penalty.

Or think of it this way.   For $4500 + $2500 Sony offers a 6MP camera that is close (lacks 60FPS, hi-res, etc.) to the $2000 EM1.2 and $1600 Panasonic lens.

To be fair, the giant Sony lens is also similar to an M43 50-200mm F2.3-2.8 zoom.  But M43 does have a nice 40-150mm F/2.8 which is a little shorter in reach, but much smaller and lighter.
