Carrying the 100-400 L II

With last weekend promising that warm weather will eventually appear in my part of the world, it's now time to figure out how to carry my new 100-400.  I don't want to hang it off the camera so I suspect that I'll have to use the tripod foot.  (I have a Peak Design clutch on the camera so using a strap on the camera would be hard anyway.)

I find the Canon tripod foot very comfortable for hand-holding the lens; it fits nicely into the palm of my hand.  I'd rather not have something sharp and angular there when holding the lens.

So what do you use? I need some ideas.  (Pictures would help.)
