I have the Tamron 70-200 2.8 VC and it is brilliant. The non VC is not the same thing at all. I get clear images at 1/20th all day long with the VC. I purchased an open box sample off ebay and never regretted the purchase at all. I pinch pennies on other items, but this lens is golden in my mind.
