Loving my new Canon G9X Mll

I just purchased my G9X M2 yesterday, haven’t even had it 24 hours yet, but I am just knocked out by this camera.
I have always liked small cameras, and previously owned a Sony RX100M2. While I liked the quality of the pictures, operating the Sony was a total PIA, so I sold it. Since then I have settled on M 4/3, but continue to look at what’s out there in small 1 inch sensor cameras. While researching all of the offerings, I never considered the G9X M2, because it seemed to have limited controls, and looked just like every other consumer Point and Shoot.
Boy was I wrong! After reading some reviews, and also viewing some on YouTube, I made a visit to Mike’s Camera in on my way home from work. After about 20 minutes of playing with it, and finding out how easy it is to operate, I bought it.
The touch screen implementation is nothing short of brilliant. I love being able to adjust the aperture and shutter speed when in AV or TV modes by rotating the ring around the lens. I spent some time this morning using the menus to set up the camera the way I wanted it, and It looks like the need for constant menu diving I hated in the RX100M2 is history.
I have big hands, so getting rid of the rotating ring and 4-way buttons on the back of the camera in favor of the touch screen is wonderful. The other camera manufactures could learn a lot by studying the G9X M2.
Some folks will go on and on about how much better the image quality is on some of the other 1 inch sensor cameras out there, but I am not a pixel peeper, so I could care less. Anyway I ran out to grab a hamburger a few minutes ago, and while waiting for the burger to be done, I grabbed the following photo. It’s not art, but it does indicate that I am going to enjoy using the G9XM2.
While this camera may seem expensive to some, in my opinion the ease of operation makes it well worth what I paid for it.
