Dear Gerald,

Sometimes it's good to be last. Just sayin'.

I came into photography with the mentality that if something was good enough for a professional a couple of years ago it wouldn't limit me.

That mentality comes from my collection of outdoor gear. I have fishing rods and reels that are over 50 years old that still work as new and the fish don't mind.

Honestly, why should it be different for camera gear?

Regards,

Tim Murphy

Tim,

You're not that far from where I am in terms of photography and the equipment. I keep a Canon ELPH 330HS in my car 24/7 for things I might come across. That ELPH was bought used. I have another ELPH 330HS that's a Canon refurb. In fact I have a number of used cameras and have had several refurbs. I also watch for deals on new gear. My FZ200 was only $250.

Then the coal company came with the world's largest shovel
And they tortured the timber and stripped all the land
Well, they dug for their coal till the land was forsaken
Then they wrote it all down as the progress of man.
