In terms of video, it seems like Panasonic is pushing the boundaries but wonder why they didn't go for HEVC h.265 codec? 2 years ago video people were raving about this codec being the best thing and future devices will have it but if GH5 doesn't have it,
Leave it up to them. Have they ever failed? No.
Totally agreed. My old man always says "if it ain't broken don't fix it". But we did hear a lot of talk about HEVC being amazing and NX1 was touted as future proof etc.
logically it means two things:
1. HEVC is not the future?
2. GH5 isn't future proof?
Sure it is.
Hmm. Apologies for coming across as stubborn, but how could you say yes to both 1 and 2? Aren't they contradicting each other?
I have replied a couple of posts above, it DOES have H265, I have included all the different video formats, too. Just a couple of posts above.
H265 is supported by 4K Pana tvs anyway.
Apologies for bringing this up mate, but looks like either you are wrong or DPR is wrong. What am I missing here? I thought H265 was the future and all.

Seriously, I do not even remember the whole thread, and since then I haven't done much searching about GH5 as I am waiting for all the firmware updates and the competition to decide if it is really for me.
What is your issue with H265 exactly?
Even these very reputable sellers in UK ( https://www.proav.co.uk/videos/panasonic-gh5-up-to-speed/ ) are mentioning H265 (read the second paragraph), probably it is a Panasonic misunderstanding, as there is H265 in 6K photo mode, and there is going to be an anamorphic mode in the summer (?), in anyway, I posted the published tables back then, I won't create "official tables" out of my stomach.
Edit: just saw the post. That was 3 months ago, and it was quoted by the Newsshooter review.
