X-T20 tips & tricks

Hey, let's share some useful tips / features / secrets that may not be so obvious for some!

I'll start:

  • holding "trash" button for a few seconds and then also pressing the center of the read command dial will trigger FORMAT function
  • you can lock all buttons (to prevent accidental operation) during shooting, by pressing and holding MENU/OK until lock icon is displayed
  • X-T20 has electronic level (screen setting > disp. custom setting)
  • AF-L/AE-L can be changed so the focus/exposure will remain locked not only while the button is pressed (BUTTON/DIAL SETTING > AE/AF-LOCK MODE > AE&AF ON/OFF SWITCH)
  • Faster focus by using POWER MANAGEMENT > PERFORMANCE mode
  • By assigning ISO, film simulation, white balance, etc. to function keys or command dial (instead of Quick Menu), you will have a live-preview of the particular effect
  • You can check the detailed battery level in % on the top-right corner, on the settings panel (under DISP/BACK button in shooting mode)
  • It's possible to have the exposure in the EVF independent to the exposure of the actual shot ("Preview EXP/WB in manual mode" under the Screen Settings)
  • X-T20 has a high ISO invariance ("iso-less camera")
  • Pressing and holding DISP/BACK button in shooting mode will open Fn/AE-L/AF-L BUTTON SETTING panel
  • Setting exposure compensation dial to C mode will expand the exposure range to +/- 5
  • You can add copyright info to EXIF data on SAVE DATA SET-UP > COPYRIGHT INFO
  • You can change the default file name from DSCFxxxx (SAVE DATA SET-UP> EDIT FILE NAME)
