G9X I/II: Handheld night scene vs HDR scene vs Exposure bracketing?

Hi,

The G9X I/II has a Scene mode called "Handheld Night Scene". I just wonder how that differs from the "HDR" Scene mode, or Exposure bracketing followed by HDR processing in a PC application?

All of these options seem to take three rapid shots (with different exposure compensation I assume?), and then process the images to produce a "better" image under low-light or high-contrast conditions.

So what is the difference between them? Does e.g. the "Handheld Night Scene" mode use longer exposure times than the others?

And is Exposure bracketing followed by HDR processing in a PC application always better than the camera's build-in HDR scene mode? So far I seem to often get pretty "washed out colors" from the build-in HDR mode, that's why I wonder.
