I have an XE-1 and I think the speed of the autofocus with the newer lenses like the 23mm f2 is pretty good...until I tried the same lens on an XT1!  Much faster.

I was in he same quandry as you, XT2 or XT20 but I did find the XT20 very small, too small to be a usable camera in the field for me. As a former SLR guy I like a slightly bigger camera.  I bought the XT1 because I like that older sensor. It's a tiny bit bigger than the XE1 and mammoth compared to the XT20/10.  But, not so mammoth that with a 27mm lens it can't fit in your pocket.  I just didnt have the budget at the time to afford the XT2 which in Canada is $2000. I got a new XT1 for $1200, $100 more than the XT20.  Very happy with my decision BTW!
