My NX300 has a similar issue with the top dial, sometimes it registers a wrong position. Even have an issue with the aperture dial on the NX500, it jumps all over the place, regardless of the direction I'm turning it.

I started to realize what's the downside of Samsung....great sensors, image quality...but build quality and/or quality control is not that good.

I have to agree with you about the build quality, regarding QC. Apart from the recent debacle of Samsung with its exploding phone batteries, (I know Samsung did not actually make the batteries themselves, but they still continued for a while to sell the things), Samsung make the best camera available, then instead of allowing the camera to find its place in the market, they pull the plug on all cameras and exit as if they had never been there in the first place. I had a recent experience of Samsung leaving markets too. I had a 50" Samsung Plasma screen TV. Luckily it was insured, (not by Samsung lol). Anyway the TV suddenly refused to switch on, either with the dedicated remote control, nor my Sky remote control, nor using the TV power switch, (gasp, I had to actually WALK to the TV to press a button, I had almost forgotten how to do this ). So I called the insurance company and they had engineers picking up my TV the very next day. Two weeks later I was informed by the company that the Plasma screen itself had failed, and although the TV was only 4.5 years old, they were unable to get a replacement screen as Samsung had pulled out of that market and no longer manufactured Plasma screens. So the Insurance company paid me half the money that it coast me, I put up another £700 and we bought a brand new TV. Not a Samsung this time though.

Still, Samsung produces some of the best TVs out there, I would probably buy a HDR one next year, and in 3 different categories I am interested in, the Samsung ones were the best option.

My point was NOT that it wasn't serviceable, but that Samsung just decided to drop the tech and leave that particular point of the market. Also the Samsung QC, which is showing to be quite relevant, in this thread alone. I did buy another TV, a 55" 4K UHDR. Just not a Samsung. Another thing about Samsung is they are pushing for all TV's to be curved, there are not many NEW model, flat screen TV's from Samsung now. Due to vision problems, I do not want a curved screen.

A 4.5 year old plasma TV probably wouldn't be serviced by anyone, not even Panasonic that invested so much on that technology.

Curved TVs are a gimmick, for years we were talking about screen uniformity and viewing angles, and curved screens are completely the opposite of this!

The only TVs I consider buying instead of Samsung ones are the LG OLED ones, and I am not sure I want to go that high for a TV. I have to say that Samsung is offering the best options in almost every category, and maybe a Panasonic or two.

Well this is what I've been telling you. Samsung forecast that they are only going to manufacture curved TV's in future, and, seeing as how I don't want a curved one I've gone for the other S. Korean manufacturer, Samsung's neighbour L.G. I now have an L.G 55" 4K UHDR T.V with an absolutely stunning picture. But as with cameras, the TV's must be set up properly to get the best IQ in picture. I set mine up by visiting a professional who gave me the menu set up details needed for my particular make and model. I didn't want a curved TV which is one of the reasons why I didn't want a Samsung. As for Panasonic, well they have their own DEEP troubles so nobody can forecast how long, or indeed, if at all, Panasonic will be around for. Their camera business and telephony, and probably the whole shebang is being dismantled/restructured. Read the complete article here.
